Discolouration Dog Fur

liturgical Day: Wednesday of Easter Octave

Gospel text ( Lk 24,13-35): That same day were two of them to a village called Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking together about what had happened. It happened while they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came and went with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.

He said: "What are you discussing as you go walking?". They stood with sad air. One of them, named Cleopas, answered him: "Are you the only person staying in Jerusalem who does not know that these days things have happened in it?". He said, 'What things? ". They said, 'All about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and magistrates sentenced him to death and crucified him. We had hoped that He who would deliver Israel, but with all these things, now the third day since this happened. The fact is that some women from our group have astounded us: they went to the tomb early, and did not find his body, saying, that they had seen a vision of angels who said that he lived. Were also some of us to the tomb and found everything exactly as the women had said, but he not see him. " He said, "O fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and enter into his glory? ". And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained what he had on him in all the Scriptures.

approached the village where they were going, he made a move forward. But they forced him saying, "Stay with us, for evening and the day is almost over." And he went to stay with them. It happened, when he was at table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and handed it to them.

Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. They said to each other: "Did not our hearts burning within us while he talked on the way to us the Scriptures?". And out at once and returned to Jerusalem and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them, saying: "It's true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon. " They, in turn, recounted what had happened on the road and how he was known in the breaking of bread.

"Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked on the way to us the Scriptures?"

Today's Gospel says that Jesus is alive and continues to be the center on which to build the community of disciples. It is in this context at the meeting ecclesial community in dialogue with the brothers who share the same faith in the community hear the Word of God, the love shared in gestures of brotherhood and service, which the disciples can make the experience of meeting the risen Jesus.

loaded Disciples sadness, they never imagined that this stranger was precisely their Master, risen. But felt "burn" his heart (cf. Lk 24:32) when He spoke to them, "explained" the Scriptures. The light of the Word dispelled the stubbornness of their hearts and "opened their eyes" (Lk 24, 31).

icon of the disciples of Emmaus serves to guide the long road of our doubts, concerns and sometimes bitter disappointments. The divine Traveler continues to be our partner, opening to the interpretation of Scripture, the understanding of the mysteries of God. When the meeting becomes full, the light of the Word follows the light streaming from the "Bread of life", by the supreme fulfillment of his promise supremely of " I am with you always until the end of the " (Mt 28.20).

Pope Benedict XVI said that " the announcement of the Resurrection of the Lord illuminates the dark areas of the world in which we live."
